Did the island have a pier and a
funfair? Did Gavin and Stacy live close by? Was our lovely friend Louise
visiting? No none of these gave the anchorage the name Barry island, it was the
huge number of giant barracuda in the bay, as soon as you were in the water
swimming they were there, often up to 3-4ft long. Unfortunately no photos as
they are attracted to shiny objects and you are advised not to startle them,
they do have sharp teeth and this was the only time we were stalked by one!
The marine life was not limited to
the barracudas as they were lots of turtles grazing close to the boats and they
did not seem that bothered about us, slightly more concerned when Mark stuck a
camera in their face J

Whitepotted Filefish - he is just so pretty |

Squirrel fish, always difficult to get a photo as they swim off |
Only frustrating thing about the
island is the anchorage we could get shelter in was full of buoys so you had to
pay for the night but there are no shortage of boats wanting to get on the buoy
by about 2pm boats are circling and all buoys are taken.
Another day and another island but
this time over to Tortola, it is the largest of BVIs and the main town is Road
Harbour, we only really went here to reprovision, the anchorage was tiny
backing onto some house and mangroves.
